Washington, D.C. — Today, the U.S. House of Representatives passed H.R. 7463 - Making further continuing appropriations for fiscal year 2024. Following the vote, Representative John Curtis (R-UT) expressed his views on the bill.

"Last November, I supported a continuing resolution (CR) to give Speaker Johnson the opportunity to unite the conference around a plan to rein in our out-of-control spending while responsibly keeping the government open," stated Representative Curtis.

Curtis continued, saying, "I oppose any government shutdown as it is irresponsible for the government be funded by short term band aids."

Expressing his concerns about the bill, Curtis added, "I am concerned this CR will increase the likelihood of an omnibus spending bill that will not represent Utah’s values."

In conclusion, Representative Curtis emphasized, "Ultimately, I opposed this CR because we should work together to solve this fiscal year’s funding instead of kicking the can down the road.”
